About the Middle Marches Benefice

Welcome to the Middle Marches Benefice website. Please take a look through and see what we are and what we are doing. Our website is very much part of our mission to the wider world and we hope you enjoy viewing it and, who knows? It may give you some useful ideas and inspiration.

This group of parishes, consisting of scattered villages, hamlets and farms in the beautiful Marches area of the Diocese of Hereford, was first formed as a united benefice in June 1991. It took on its present shape in January 2012 and today comprises the parishes of Bedstone, Bucknell, Chapel Lawn, Clungunford, Hopton Castle, Llanfair Waterdine and Stowe. It is a large benefice - about ten miles across as the crow flies - and so a considerable challenge, which is why the concept of lay, collaborative ministry is so important.

Lest we forget

Margaret Hay-Campbell has very kindly released her research into the soldiers from Bucknell, Chapel Lawn, Llanfair Waterdine and Stowe who gave their lives in two World Wars.

The pages may be viewed here under the Memorial page of their respective churches. Click on the name to go there:
